Hello World! Here is my first and much anticipated blog post! I hope all of you out there on the Internet have an incredible time reading about my thoughts in this post. Maybe more than just my mom will read? Who knows! Anyway, hi Mom!!
I feel like time has been moving both slowly and quickly. All is quite well here, both at work and at home. There are lots of kisses and hugs in Chile which is very nice for me. I am working with a Physics teacher (whaaaaaat!) and he is pretty great. What a brilliant guy. I'll also be working in some math classes too (whew!) but the details are still being worked out. The kids at school are great. Everyone is really friendly and makes me feel very at home. I have a lot to say more about the school but I think I will wait until next week when I know a little bit more. In this post I would like to focus on my family.
When I got an email from my host mom, she told me that her family has many cats. My heart was overjoyed. Everyone in the family loves cats just as much as me. Cats are everywhere. The youngest, Rodrigo, allowed me to name one of the cats. She is now She-Ra. In the picture below you see Martin (the oldest boy) holding Ozil, me holding Sushi, and Rodrigo holding Chidori. With the boys I have been playing a lot of cards, watching a lot of futbol, and having lots of laughs.
The oldest, Martin, loves to make me say words and then say them about 50 more times until my pronunciation is perfecto. His favorite is "selfie." I apparently said it all wrong... but now I'm good. He loves futbol and wants to be a professional goalie. He is 14 years old and a giant. He has more energy than anyone in the house combined (and they are all so energetic). He's a lot of fun and I think that he is probably very popular at school. When I tell the older high school students who I am living with, they all say, "Oh!! Martin!!" and then giggle a little bit. Everyone loves him.
The youngest, Rodrigo, is super friendly and was my first friend. He talks to me all of the time, even on the bus home when I know that he wants to take a nap. He is really funny. Today when we were out he found a rock and made up an elaborate story about this rock. At the end, we all decided that it should be named Larry the Lady Rock and that she couldn't find a husband. We plan to make a book called "Larry the Lady Rock: Forever Alone." I'm pretty excited.
The parents of the family, Lia and Rodrigo, are amazing people. Lia is probably the most considerate and kind person I have ever met. I don't know how to describe it but through her actions and words I have been convinced that she is simply amazing and that I want to be more like her. She loves her work and really believes in what she does. She takes great care of her health and is in great shape. She is an incredible mother. I am not sure how she keeps everything afloat all at the same time... I predict that maybe she doesn't sleep. Rodrigo is very funny and very easy to talk to. He is also extremely great at and dedicated to his work. I think they are both good role models for how to have a work life and family life.
In other news, I have been exercising and drinking lots of coffee/wine (and not much water... it's a long story) and meeting new people and seeing this beautiful city. Below is a picture from San Cristobal Hill and then the view from a run where my family lives.

That's all for now! Hasta luego familia. Extraño a todos ustedes y los amo a todos
