#Blessed... By: Maggie F.

As a 21-year-old college student, this is my first time traveling outside of the country alone. When I boarded my first flight in Washington Dulles Airport, I was terrified and excited. In order to remain open to the Chilean culture and people, I did not do a lot of research before I left for my adventure. Needless to say, I did not know what to expect on my journey to Santiago, Chilé. One week has already gone by and I have already been to a the top of the Sky Costanera, the tallest building in South America,

to a famous Argentinian rock concert (Los Fabulosos Cadillacs),

an artisan market (Los Pueblos Dominicos), the Chilean presidential palace (La Moneda),

the Metropolitan Basilica of Santiago,

San Cristobal Hill,

hiking in the Andes mountains,

(my fabulous hosts, Antonia and Claudia)

Isla Negra, and the vacation home of Pablo Neruda, the famous Chilean poet and Nobel Prize winner.

I finally got to see the Pacific Ocean and even stood on a fault line! While working alongside the Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten English Specialist at the Southern Cross, I have also had the opportunity to teach 8 English classes to prekindergarten and kindergarten students with the help of another student teacher in my program.

(one of my "Pre-Kinder" classes)

I feel so fortunate to be working and living with some incredible people and I cannot wait to see what the next two weeks hold!
